In short

A credible healthcare out-of-home measurement framework combines verified advert plays, screen uptime, audited audience factors, QR and URL attribution, and, for larger budgets, geo-lift or sell-out analysis against matched control locations. Rate-card impression estimates alone are not measurement.

  • Plays are a fact; impressions are a modelled estimate, so report both separately.
  • Uptime must be disclosed, because a dark screen delivered nothing.
  • QR scans give a hard response signal even at low absolute volumes.
  • Matched-control sell-out analysis is the strongest available proof of commercial effect.

Layer one: delivery

Every media player logs each play with a timestamp and screen ID. Delivery reporting should reconcile contracted plays against delivered plays, with make-goods for any shortfall. This is table stakes and should never be negotiable.

Layer two: audience

Impressions are delivered plays multiplied by an audience factor derived from practice throughput and category dwell time. Publish the factor. A network that will not show its methodology is asking for trust it has not earned.

Layer three: response and outcome

QR scans and campaign URLs attribute response to screen, category and daypart. Above roughly R500 000 in spend, add a geo-lift study or pharmacy sell-out comparison between exposed and matched control clusters to isolate the commercial effect.
